I have a new laptop with windows 7 and an old but very reliable LaserJet 4 Plus printer. I was able to download print drivers from the HP site but it still will not print. I don't get any error messages, just nothing happens when I try to print a document or test page. Do I need to change something else in my settings? Go to Solution.

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. When powering on the printer, W7 installed a IEEE controller that shows up in the Unspecified list of Devices in the control panel. When trying to print a test page, the "ready" light on the printer begins to print, but nothing else happens. I don't know how this happened or what this means.
This suggests that the PC is 'talking' to the printer.
