I went to the chemist and found the best of the best of the omega 3 fish oil capsules, I printed out the book and highlighted the pages we needed. I convinced him that none of this was his fault and that this is all part of the ride from getting off these drugs.
A week later all the vitamins arrived I placed them in plastic bags for each dosage for morning, mid morning, lunch etc, I sent a timer of when he should have them and got him to take these pills.
After a week of being on the vitamins he was a completely different person, I actually got him to laugh. By the Friday he came to me and said you saved me and he was feeling better like a normal person. I knew that we would still have good days and bad days and we did but we agreed he would stick it out for the 45 days. I ensured that we walked nearly every day by the beach, we walk for hours. The exercise really made a difference, if I could see that he was getting worked up, I would say let's go for a walk, he always felt better after walking.
Some days we would talk and some days not but just getting out there made everything better. For the first couple of weeks you could tell he was getting better but every now and then you would see his mind wonder especially in the middle of a conversation and he would lose his train of thought as the weeks went on this all went away.
By day 30 I had my mate back, he was really good. It's now March and I can't thank the team at the road back enough for the encouraging emails and assistance.
I really could not have helped my friend without you. He is happy, healthy and coping with life drug free. I always returned to taking the pill - despite the fact that I gained weight, experienced constant stomach upset, was always ready for a nap, had little sex drive, and did not feel much emotion good or bad.
For someone that does not know what withdrawal feels like - I would tell them that the side effects from the meds were a walk in the park compared to withdrawal. I went to sleep for the night a couple hours later already thinking about calling into work the next day because I felt so bad. When I woke up the next morning, I felt fine! She has been off all psychiatric medication for about ten weeks.
While her detoxification was not quite as smooth as it could have been; it would not have been possible without your help and guidance. It probably would have been impossible without the dietary supplements and The Road Back program to follow. The doctors here were of no help, they abruptly took her off medications and when she did not feel well they said there were no such thing as withdrawals from those medications.
They, of course, offered more drugs. She also woke up at night crying out in pain. On two separate occasions I gave her two Tylenol 3 to help her sleep. They seemed to work as a break through drug that stopped the pain and allowed her to sleep.
The pain seemed to build back up after two weeks and keep her awake. Two Tylenols worked again. The pain and lack of a proper sleep cycle just continued itself. T his situation was probably cause by a lack of supervision while I visited my elderly parents on the east coast at Christmas.
The week before I left we reduced her to 1. For some reason she thought she was to reduce again and around Christmas she stopped taking the zopiclone, as well as the 25mg of Seroquel. I think this may have resulted in a high or manic state, she totally cleaned my house. When I got back she was having trouble sleeping, waking up in pain, slowly deteriorating.
This time she was desperate and went back on a blocker drug gabapentine. She did not like the way it made her feel but it stopped the pain. She did not want to continue with the blocker drug and stopped it after eight days.
She felt that was only going backwards. When the pain came back so strong she could not sleep we tried and had success with the Tylenols. After awhile only the first three or four steps. The quality of her sleep seemed to have an effect on how long this feeling lasted in the morning.
The poorer her sleep was and how many nights in a row she was having difficulty sleeping seemed to make the feeling last longer. She has been pain free again for three days now. We had been cutting back on the body calm supreme to at night time only and body calm to once a day. About sixty days after her last dosage of zopiclone and Seroquel we tried stopping the JNK.
She did not respond well to that, so she has been taking JNK each morning again for the last four days. I just realized that continuing the JNK for 45 days after the last dose of drugs now refers to the GabaPentine or perhaps even the Tylenol 3's. She is still waking up at night but only once or maybe twice; but not crying out or even feeling pain. We are quite sure the pain sensations were the result of stopping the drugs.
I have been paying attention and guiding her through any rough patches as well as I could but I think we are close to the end of the road back. We now need advice on completion of the program. Perhaps some vitamin D as well. You have been such great help that any guidance on properly ending would be appreciated Thank you again for all your help we could not have accomplished so much without your assistance.
You truly are lifesavers. Yours truly. It took me nearly three months to taper off the dose, which is funny I think I only took it for 3 or four months before that. I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder in though I have had depression and anxiety issues my entire life. Over the course of five years doctors prescribed to me Prozac, Wellbutrin, Celexa and finally Effexor.
Each time a med would stop working I would scour the internet to research other drugs that I could convince my doctor to prescribe me. I began asking myself what if this one doesn't work then what will fix me? What began as a general annoyance that the drugs either stopped working, caused rashes, or made me fat ended with Effexor making me sleep like a zombie, have night terrors so horrible that I felt physical pain in my dreams, and cry uncontrollably if I missed a dose.
My children would ask me what was wrong and I would tell them not to worry I forgot to take my medicine they would look worried and say "then please don't forget anymore" I knew I had to get off and that doctors were not going to fix me. It is not their business to fix us it is their business to keep us coming back and if we are ok we do not need them. It became clear that I was the one living the lifestyle that made me have the problems.
I was the one who had to find and make the changes to fix me. I Googled away and I found you. Finally honest straight forward advice to get off and solutions to alleviate and minimize physical reactions to getting off the drugs. Thank you Thank you thank you! I have dropped your link in quite a few friends e-mails after discussing getting off different drugs.
Getting off Effexor took a lot of time and dedication and even after I was off completely I still experienced uncontrollable crying especially if I drank alcohol which is not that often and zaps in my ears for about 6 months after that.
You never said it would be easy, and you never tried to take advantage of me and sell me stuff. Even today I hear zaps from time to time and it just alerts me to get back on my omega 3s and stop eating crap. Thank you for reassuring me that it can be done and I do not have to be dependent on a foreign chemical to feel normal. Thank you for reinforcing the link between diet especially refined carbs and brain function.
I have come so far but I am reminded with my relapse of negativity and sadness anytime I deviate back to my old eating habits. You must get thousands of thank you and testimonials each day, and I know mine is just one more but it comes truly heartfelt with immense gratitude. We received the supplements and gave our 17 yr old daughter the body calm and cal mag before sleep Sunday night. She easily went to sleep with no Seroquel. Monday she took all supplements as directed. She has never been so calm and pleasant and relaxed in many years if ever!
Feels like a miracle! Last night she did not fall asleep right away, but this morning she said she slept soundly through the night-first time in AGES!! Today she went too many hours without the body calm and nerve support second dose because she was out of the house longer than expected. She felt flu-like and headachy etc, but still, handled the discomfort better than ever. Once she took the supplements again, she felt better all over again.
This is already changing our family life. I used your supplements to withdraw from a number of medications, with great success. Thank you, " G. D "I was able to get off Effexor, after 8 years of taking it, by using your products. I found a new site last night, theroadback. Supplements to take, testimonials showing success. I'm just checking into it, learning more about it. June 1. May 21 Stepped down to Venlafaxine 70mg. April 22 switched from Venlafaxine XR 75mg to: different brand, Venlafaxine non-extended release 75mg. Been taking Effexor XR 75mg. Tried reducing last year, began having bad side effects.
Has anyone successfully used this program and suggested supplements to discontinue SSRI's? I am skeptical but desperate for anything that will minimize withdrawls. Do you like this program? Seem like a scam? Info was obtained at www.
Effexor mg. Micro-tapering : four weekly 0. Minimal symptoms, - and sleeping well. Supplements: Fish oil, vitamin C, iron, oat-straw tea, nettle tea. My story of healing: ContinuedHealing. Thank you for the link to this thread. I'm still new to this site but I'm learning that if I search, chances are there's already a post about it lol. My brain is still in a big fog trying to adjust to reinstatement of lexapro and I've been quite loopy lately.
This is a much better site and the intent here, is to help.. There's lots to browse through here. If you are feeling something , there will be someone similar here. Loads of great info. But I understand the brain fog. Its not easy. I'm very confused right now, because I don't understand, can I answer the question asked in the first post or not. As the question is here, I'm still answering it. I feel that it has helped me greatly. But it has taken time and secondly, it hasn't taken away withdrawal symptoms, I still get those.
But my overall mental health has increased tremendously and therefore I also think that withdrawal is easier. For example, I don't remember anymore how is it like to feel overwhelming, deep depression - I don't get it anymore.
When I make a cut in my meds, I do feel depressed, but it feels like a normal, human depression, low mood, irritability. I do believe though that starting this supplement can be difficult when a person is in withdrawal. It does interfere with meds - it is said that it increases the potential of meds. I started to feel their effect in 3 months in, and they have improved my health during 2,5 years, it still gets better. I used to feel very lonely and cut off the world, it was like a personality part of me already, struggled with this for 10 years.
I must say that at the same time I started vitamins, I also started gluten-free-casein-free diet and I have no way of knowing which has helped me more. I also must say that I have been slow and cautious with withdrawing. I estimate another 1, years. Started withdrawing slowly since april Jumped off fluoxetine 1,4mg due to pregnancy in July Oct severe withdrawal syndrome started.
Took mistakenly a complex for hormonal support that included pregnenolone decapril Stopped it april and immediately severe akathisia started. It's possible that it was time passing, rather than Hardynutritionals Daily Essential Nutrients, that made you feel better. We do not recommend any supplement program promoted to make withdrawal easier. Supplements cannot substitute for careful tapering to minimize withdrawal symptoms.
And for another perspective, my 'mental health' has improved out of sight since I began careful tapering. No supplement programs needed, in my case anyway.
Definitely not possible. I was put on double dosage of the meds after bad withdrawal crash in I started tapering in , and also supplements and diet. I had improved a lot by the time I was back on original dosage, not less. I bought a package of The Road Back supplements and felt horrible.
The Body Calm did absolutely nothing to calm me. In fact I became increasing agitated the more I took of it. After 1 week of using these supplements, I threw them all out. A great supplement to help with anxiety and sleep which doesn't interact with psychotropic drugs is Ashwaganda. I highly recommend it. Risperdal, Feb. Risperdal tablets are disintegrating so shaving tiny tiny amounts is how I do it.
Effexor to nothing, felt great for 3 months then hit an anxiety patch late Oct. Trazodone for sleep. Will taper very slowly when Effexor and Risperdal are done with proven stability. I am working on tapering off Effexor XR 75mg. I want everyone here to know about an online organization I am trying to help with this theroadback.
I am almost three weeks on the supplements and seeing if it will first of all improve my sleep. So far the results are moderate. I am adjusting dosages. I also have developed a neck spasm, I've had for 7 years, called Spastic Torticollis and Cervical Dystonia. I am hoping getting off the med will help to improve that as well!
Please start a topic for yourself in our Introductions and updates section so we can get to know you and provide help and support. Thank you for the recommendation - I am not going to stay on Trazadone I was given to help me get off ADs so this will come in handy. Ashwaganda - never heard of it before. Many thanks! Getting off Amitriptyline 25 mg, on Decided to cut open remaining 60 mg capsules and take the little tablets inside.
If need be, I can up the dosage, but aside from a bit of toe pain I am ok. Cymbalta, Klonopin from '95 to present.
Norco Vicodin or Hydrocodone '92 to - cold turkey - minor issuesHad 1 day with withdrawal symptoms - dealing mostly with Side Effects. April 7, now taking Ami Melatonin 10 mg have been for years. Had one day of very swollen calves and ankles, one day of lumps on calves, all better. Today the toes, lasted 2 hrs, now gone. BM much better, I have an appetite and crave healthy foods again.
More energy, but not nervous. No burning toes 2nd day. Doing well so far. Tramadol PRN. It is next, in a couple of months. No more Tramadol either - that was unintentionally, but hey, I am not complaining. I am using Kratom once or twice daily. Doctor is happy for me how well this is all going. Almost done with it all!! Also see Invalid: Urine testing for neurotransmitters in the brain.
Signed up with SA, never looked back - well, I did look up the ingredients of their supplements. It can be done, took a whole day. Many I already had anyhow - I am doing great - been here about a month now.
Did 1 taper so far since I joined. It makes me think an interesting thread could be made re: supplements. I've tried a few, and like you say, some stuff can be 'activating', I got insomnia and anxiety from certain supps and it'd be a nice, little pool of info for us med-damaged people on here.
Take 2 capsules; do not take more than 4 capsules in 24 hours. Safety Warning Do not give to children under 2 years of age unless directed by a doctor. Ask a doctor before use if you have: A breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers.
When using this product: Marked drowsiness may occur. Avoid alcoholic drinks. Alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness. Be careful when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a doctor before use. Taken for headaches, nausea, dizziness, brain zaps. Meclizine an antihistamine is available in products approved in the USA other than Bonine so please check label ingedients before using with other products. Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with meclizine, especially the antidepressants bupropion, duloxetine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, or sertraline.
Using meclizine together with duloxetine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating.
Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. Common side effects include blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, vomiting, or tiredness.
Truck Princess commented that "I have found that taking the Rugby travel sickness med 25mg took away ALL my withdrawal symptoms for the majority. I don't get any brain zaps, dizziness, head swooshing, none of that. Also with the Rugby it's 24hrs so you only take one or two. The Rugby I took because of the nausea was so bad and just discovered it really got rid of most of the withdrawals and I didn't get the crying spells like you and others have. This may partly be due to the fact it also contains Phenylalanine which other members report as helping their symptoms.
See cold and flu medicine section. Caution - Many of the above products contain Lactose, a concern if you are lactose intolerant. They may also contain artificial colors that may irritate the nervous system and artificial sweeteners that can irritate the stomach in some people. It might be just using the desperation of people who feel very silly afterwards but I thought screw it and ordered the stuff.
They advise to take a supplement that kind of calms the reactions that take place in your body as soon as you take an anti-depressant, and when you go into withdrawal.
It has to do with the JNK gene. If you know whether that company is a joke, let me know! What are ALA supplements? I really need something to help me with that fatigue, because work gets really hard when you're constantly extremely tired. LadyNancy - I know someone who used The Road Back program to try to get off of Cymbalta and the last time I had any contact with her she was doing everything the book said to do and taking all the supplements and still not off it so unless you just like to pray a lot then in my opinion you should just go out and buy some Omega 3, a good Vitamin B complex and drink lots of water.
I haven't found anyone who had severe symptoms that found the program very helpful in actually getting through withdrawal symptoms. I found that resource as well, and I looked at the supplements they recommended. There are other companies that market supplement blends, or even the raw components so you could prepare your own. Reading the composition of the supplements, there seems to be a lot of "fluff" that has not been examined yet, or found to be ineffective for what it is being used for.
I also feel the amounts contained in the blend are not consistent with recommended dosages that may have been examined in research.
