The Campaign was never too good in my opinion in any of the Strongholds. However, playing against the AI or friends really was fun. However that remake that enabled you to have a lot more units at once kind of ruined it.
Go with the original. Since Crusader the series has gone downhill in my opinion. Stronghold 2 was okay, but it didn't feel as good anymore.
Stronghold Legends was riddiculous. Don't go for that one, it's no fun at all. Stronghold 3 I've not played yet, but you barely get any video rev's so it's probably not as good either. Posted January 28, Hi I think the best one is Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader. Crusader is basically Stronghold in Arabian atmosphere with more war-like themes. If you are looking for Castle building economical challenge then start with basic Stronghold - there were more predefined economical missions in that one.
Also in both games you have Free Build mode where you can build your own castle without any enemy forces and bandits encounter. Posted January 30, I tried Crusader for a bit, but didn't play it that much.
Rolling hills, trees which sway gently in the breeze, the rivers which lazily flows across a valley and streams which cuts its way through a gulley, I mean its the stuff fairy tales and imagiontation are made of. And u find that everyone is named. And then sometimes you'll catch your peasants doing funny things for no reason, like the woodcutter who went on a bunny rampage.
Anyways long story short Stronghold is one cool castle simulation. Buy it! Play it! So sometimes you need to just butcher them with your soldiers. After just the first 2 or 3 missions I was overwhelmed. Wanted View Profile View Posts. My favorit was playing stronghold Legends. The variation possibilities were best in the game. There were many clans with the best gamblers from different countries. I miss that with crusader 2. Unfortunately shl had one drawback - many bugs. Sadly, the earlier games are still miles better. Giving slaves the ability to smash castle walls destroys much of the atmosphere, and it also helps if the developers could be bothered to finish the game if you can't finish the game then you should at least remove references to unimplemented content like moats and the barbican from the manual.
